Few days ago, Amit Singhal (Google’s search researcher) talked about Google Ranking on Google’s official blog. He tried to explain the different factors that determine Google Rankings and in my opinion, he did a very nice job. He discussed three major factors that Google considers for their search engine rankings.
1) Best locally relevant results served globally.
2) Keep it simple.
3) No manual intervention.
Initially, he discussed Google’s attempt to provide users with the most relevant search results all the time. Google does not want its users to be disappointed and it is doing its best to satisfy its users. Secondly, Google wants to keep its methods and processes simple like any other company. Amit said that Google updates at least 10 ranking per week. Finally, Google doesn’t like manual intervention when it comes to ranking. Google SERPs are based on its famous algorithm that is itself based on contribution from human society. Google does not manually edit its rankings but allows its algorithm to do it since it is less subjective and easier.
